East Midlands Military Model Show

Back Up Next
December the 10th started off as cold, but dry. Unfortunately while my back was turned it rained driving the WWII armour under the gazebo L and the modern stuff was too scared of the cold so sheltered indoors (wuss’s!) The show was supported by the following traders:- Model Power, Incoming Models, One Sixth Unique, Armaments in Miniature,  New Thorpe Models and Ed. Disappointingly YT International didn’t turn up, but the walls of the hall were very busy in addition to the traders there was the UK tank Club and the 1/6th Collectors Club. The day started of slow but towards lunch an influx of punters came through the doors and the next couple of hours much business was done by both traders and exhibitors. We held both a raffle and a model competition sponsored by Mark Spencer of Mark 1 Tanks, and Nigel Allan taking the prize with his SdKfz 7 and 88 combo, obviously my Panther was a close 2nd J Running of the large scale tanks was not practical as it rained virtually all day, but with a lot of the visitors being 1/6th Action figure collectors and static being their thing, the tanks were still appreciated. We believe the show to be a success and the traders seemed very happy with this new venture, with only a few tweaks we have been asked to put the show on again maybe next summer where we can make better use of the large scale tanks, and maybe with a little sun the modern armour may venture outsideJ
